While it may seem odd\nthat a typeface designed 65 years ago would look good on-screen today,\nthe reason has to do with the shape of the letterforms themselves.\n\nThey have a simple, geometric shape, and their serifs (the small protrusions\nfrom the ends of the letter) are in the \"slab\" family, which means they, too,\nare simple. The \"x-height\" (the height of the lowercase letter \"x\") is\nrelatively large, but not so large that it makes reading difficult in the web\nwhere there is little real control over leading (the space between the lines).\n\nBitstream is supplying these typefaces to help you see the importance of type\non the web. Once you see how different web pages can look just by changing the\ntypeface, and how much easier they can be to read, you'll see the importance of\ntypographic choice on the web.","flavors":[],"html":"https://daemonports.org/netbsd/fonts/geoslab703-ttf/","kind":"port","lastUpdate":null,"license":[],"maintainer":"pkgsrc-users@NetBSD.org","name":"geoslab703-ttf","newest":false,"newestVersion":null,"noVulnData":false,"origin":"fonts/geoslab703-ttf","otherSystems":[],"packages":[{"repo":"NetBSD 10.1 x86_64","versions":["20010522nb5"]},{"repo":"NetBSD 10.1 aarch64","versions":["20010522nb5"]},{"repo":"SmartOS / illumos x86_64","versions":["20010522nb5"]},{"repo":"macOS 15 arm64","versions":["20010522nb5"]}],"pkgName":"geoslab703-ttf-20010522nb5","related":null,"repository":"pkgsrc","requiredBy":[],"requiredByCount":0,"runDepends":["fonts/ttmkfdir2"],"status":null,"system":"netbsd","systemLabel":"NetBSD","version":"20010522nb5","versions":null,"vulnerabilities":null,"www":null}
