PaX is a process memory\nprotection patch.  Anything that happens outside the kernel on a\nUNIX system happens inside a process. There are many attacks on the\nInternet that try to corrupt the process memory, in order to make\nit do something for which it was not intended. One example of such\nan attack is the so called buffer overflow attack. This kind of\nattack is one of the most popular at this moment.\n\nPaX protects against such attacks. Or so the author claims. When I\nstarted to add PaX to Adamantix, almost nothing happened. A few\nlibraries broke, but that was easy to fix, and that was it. I\nexpected many programs to break. So I started to wonder: ``Does\nthis patch really do anything?'' Instead of speculating, I decided\nto write a test suite. After some time, the first version of paxtest\nwas ready. More functionality was added. With the addition of every\ntest, it proved that PaX was working just fine. I decided to publish\npaxtest, because it can be useful for other people to test the\nfunctionality of the memory protection of their system(s).","flavors":[],"html":"https://daemonports.org/netbsd/wip/paxtest/","kind":"port","lastUpdate":null,"license":["gnu-gpl-v2"],"maintainer":"pkgsrc-users@NetBSD.org","name":"paxtest","newest":true,"newestVersion":"0.9.15","noVulnData":false,"origin":"wip/paxtest","otherSystems":[{"maintainer":"loic.f@hardenedbsd.org","matchedBy":"name","newest":true,"origin":"security/paxtest","path":"/hardenedbsd/security/paxtest/","system":"HardenedBSD","version":"0.9.15"}],"packages":null,"pkgName":"paxtest-0.9.15","related":null,"repository":"pkgsrc-wip","requiredBy":[],"requiredByCount":0,"runDepends":[],"status":null,"system":"netbsd","systemLabel":"NetBSD","version":"0.9.15","versions":null,"vulnerabilities":null,"www":"https://pax.grsecurity.net/"}
