The endeavor was motivated by a deep adoration\nof old-school console bitmap fonts, of Consolas, of Pragmata Pro, as well as a\nnovice's curiosity for typographical design.\n\nWhen it came to establishing a \"simple\" design scheme, the natural inclination\nwas to separate the glyph design concerns into that of \"frame\" and \"trait\". By\nframe, we refer to the naive geometric extent of a glyph and its parts. And by\ntrait, we mean, for example, the \"way\" in which a stroke curves, or the\nrelationship between one part of a glyph and another.\n\nAdhering to personal tastes, bone-deep laziness, and the quirky spirit of old\ncomputer terminal fonts, the delineations of frame and trait amounted to two\nmathematical patterns: the power of two and the golden ratio.","flavors":[],"html":"https://daemonports.org/x11-fonts/agave/","kind":"port","lastUpdate":"2026-09-17T15:27:13+02:00","license":["OFL11"],"maintainer":"ehaupt@FreeBSD.org","name":"agave","newest":true,"newestVersion":"39","noVulnData":false,"origin":"x11-fonts/agave","otherSystems":[{"behindSince":"2026-08-01","maintainer":"ehaupt@FreeBSD.org","origin":"x11-fonts/agave","path":"/dragonfly/x11-fonts/agave/","system":"DragonFly","version":"37"},{"behindSince":"2026-08-01","maintainer":"ports@MidnightBSD.org","noVulnData":true,"origin":"x11-fonts/agave","path":"/midnightbsd/x11-fonts/agave/","system":"MidnightBSD","version":"37"},{"maintainer":"ehaupt@FreeBSD.org","newest":true,"noVulnData":true,"origin":"x11-fonts/agave","path":"","system":"HardenedBSD","version":"39"},{"maintainer":"ehaupt@FreeBSD.org","newest":true,"noVulnData":true,"origin":"x11-fonts/agave","path":"","system":"GhostBSD","version":"39"}],"packages":[{"repo":"FreeBSD:14:latest","versions":["39","39","-","37","39"]},{"repo":"FreeBSD:14:quarterly","versions":["39","39","n/a","37","39"]},{"repo":"FreeBSD:15:latest","versions":["39","39","n/a","37","37"]},{"repo":"FreeBSD:15:quarterly","versions":["39","39","n/a","n/a","n/a"]},{"repo":"FreeBSD:16:latest","versions":["39","39","n/a","n/a","n/a"]},{"repo":"FreeBSD:16:quarterly","versions":["n/a","n/a","n/a","n/a","n/a"]}],"pkgName":"agave-39","related":null,"repository":"FreeBSD ports","requiredBy":[],"requiredByCount":0,"runDepends":["archivers/brotli","devel/gettext-runtime","graphics/png","print/freetype2","print/indexinfo","textproc/expat2","x11-fonts/fontconfig","x11-fonts/libfontenc","x11-fonts/mkfontscale"],"status":null,"system":"freebsd","systemLabel":"FreeBSD","version":"39","versions":[{"commit":"d2edbfc7f6caeae8fe9f8ccaca0218cd13bcddaf","date":"2026-09-17","version":"39"},{"commit":"0d609c372320b68b1976c826cc644634523e34fb","date":"2026-08-01","version":"38"}],"vulnerabilities":null,"www":"https://b.agaric.net/page/agave"}
