Description

libreFS is a community maintained, full featured S3 compatible object storage server forked from MinIO at RELEASE.2025-04-22T22-12-26Z, the last release before the embedded web console, LDAP and OIDC login and distributed mode were moved into a proprietary product.

It keeps the full embedded web console, external identity provider support, distributed erasure coding across multiple nodes and compatibility with existing MinIO client tooling such as mc.

Install

Binary package:

mport install librefs

From mports:

cd /usr/mports/www/librefs && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	librefs>0:www/librefs

libreFS is a community maintained fork of MinIO taken at `RELEASE.2025-04-22T22-12-26Z`, the last release before the embedded web console, LDAP/OIDC login and distributed mode were moved into a proprietary product. `www/minio` is marked deprecated upstream with an expiration date of 2026-12-31, so this provides a maintained replacement. Ported at `RELEASE.2026-05-04T00-42-47Z`. ### Notes - The fork keeps the upstream `github.com/minio/minio` module path, so sources come from GitHub via `USE_GITHUB` while `go.mod` drives the module cache via `GO_MOD_DIST=github`. The Go proxy has nothing published for `github.com/libreFS/libreFS`. - The binary installs as `bin/librefs`, matching upstream's own build, so it does not conflict with `www/minio`'s `bin/minio`. …
