Description

DarkIce is an IceCast, IceCast2, and ShoutCast live audio streamer. It records audio from an audio interface (e.g. sound card), encodes it and sends it to a stream server.

DarkIce can encode in the following formats:

  • MP3 (using the lame library)
  • MP2 (using the twolame library)
  • Ogg Vorbis
  • AAC (using the faac library)
  • AAC HEv2 (using libaacplus library)

DarkIce can send the encoded stream to the following streaming servers:

  • ShoutCast
  • IceCast 1.3.x and 2.x
  • Darwin Streaming Server
  • Archive the encoded audio in files

Install

Binary package:

pkg install darkice

From DPorts:

cd /usr/dports/audio/darkice && make install clean

No port depends on this one.

Configuration

No options to configure.

Service scripts
none

Message after installing

Unless this file already existed, a sample configuration file
has been placed in /usr/local/etc/darkice.cfg.

Please edit it according to your needs.

In order to enable darkice Server service at startup and start it please run:
# service darkice enable
# service darkice start
