Description

FAAC (Freeware Advanced Audio Coder) is an MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AAC Audio encoder.

FAAC currently supports MPEG-4 LTP, MAIN and LOW COMPLEXITY object types and MAIN and LOW MPEG-2 object types. It also supports multichannel and gapless encoding.

This port is deprecated; you may wish to reconsider installing it:

Produces poor audio quality compared to other encoders, consider using audio/fdk-aac , audio/exhale (xHE-AAC which supersedes AAC-LC) or FFmpeg's native encoder.

It is scheduled to be removed on or after 2025-04-30.
