The current version supports Linux (Host AP, madwifi, mac80211-based drivers) and FreeBSD (net80211).

Message after installing

=========================================================================
For DragonFly 4.2 and earlier:

    To use the ports version instead of the base, add to /etc/rc.conf:
        hostapd_program="/usr/local/sbin/hostapd"

For DragonFly 4.3 and later:

    There is no base version in these releases.
    1. Configure /usr/local/etc/hostapd.conf properly
    2. Add "hostapd_enable=YES" to /etc/rc.d
