Fcitx5 is a generic input method framework. It supercedes Fcitx 4.

Remember to set the environment variable XMODIFIERS: csh/tcsh: setenv XMODIFIERS @im=fcitx sh/bash: export XMODIFIERS='@im=fcitx' For GTK+ programs, you may want to set: csh/tcsh: setenv GTK_IM_MODULE fcitx/xim sh/bash: export GTK_IM_MODULE=fcitx/xim For Qt programs, you may want to set: csh/tcsh: setenv QT_IM_MODULE fcitx sh/bash: export QT_IM_MODULE=fcitx To start fcitx with your desktop, just cp /usr/local/share/applications/org.fcitx.Fcitx5.desktop \ ~/.config/autostart/
