Description

C3 is a programming language that is an evolution of C, enabling the same paradigms and retaining the same syntax as far as possible.

It introduces module namespacing, generic modules, optional-based error handling, defer, slices, compile-time evaluation, contracts, and built-in support for foreign function interfaces, while staying binary compatible with C and keeping the low-level control C programmers expect.

c3c is the C3 compiler, using LLVM as its backend.

Install

Binary package:

pkg install c3c

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/lang/c3c/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	c3c>0:lang/c3c

Upstream's 0.8.5_1 is a hotfix release over 0.8.5 addressing a WASM regression. Since FreeBSD reads a trailing _1 as PORTREVISION, the suffix is carried in DISTVERSIONSUFFIX so DISTNAME matches the real tag, leaving PKGNAME at c3c-0.8.5.
