Description

The Gambit programming system is a full implementation of the Scheme language which conforms to the R4RS and IEEE Scheme standards. It consists of two main programs: gsi-gambit, the Gambit Scheme interpreter, and gsc-gambit, the Gambit Scheme compiler.

Gambit-C is a version of the Gambit programming system in which the compiler generates portable C code, making the whole Gambit-C system and the programs compiled with it easily portable to many computer architectures for which a C compiler is available. With appropriate declarations in the source code the executable programs generated by the compiler run roughly as fast as equivalent C programs.

Install

Binary package:

pkg install gambit-c

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/lang/gambit-c/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	gambit-c>0:lang/gambit-c

Message after installing

Because the usual name of Gambit-C's compiler clashes with
ghostscript, the interpreter and compiler have been renamed
"gsi-gambit" and "gsc-gambit" respectively.

However, documentation is still accessible through "man gsi" or
"info gambit"

- Limit portscout to numeric versions Every upstream release is tagged twice, v4.9.x and v4.9.x-bootstrap. Portscout sorts the -bootstrap tag above the plain one and reports it as a permanent false positive update.
