Description

Setup an instant graphical desktop environment. Includes MidnightBSD Workspace and a curated Xfce desktop with common applications and integration tools.

Install

Binary package:

mport install midnightbsd-desktop

From mports:

cd /usr/mports/core/midnightbsd-desktop && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

core/midnightbsd-desktop: add x11-wm/midnight-wm (#1810)

Adds `x11-wm/midnight-wm` (MidnightBSD Workspace) to the `core/midnightbsd-desktop` metaport so it is installed with every desktop and shows up as a session in mlogind. Bumps PORTREVISION to 2 and mentions it in pkg-descr. Companion to the src firstboot change (src master 0076ffea9d, stable/4.1 cd1ad0dbb3, stable/4.0 57ecae70f2), which makes MidnightBSD Workspace the default desktop on master and stable/4.1; stable/4.0 keeps Xfce as the default. Note: the midnight-wm README targets MidnightBSD 4.2 with Clang 19 / C++23. If it does not build on older releases, this metaport will fail there as well. Checked: `make -V PKGNAME -V RUN_DEPENDS` gives `midnightbsd-desktop-2.6.7_2` with `midnight-wm:x11-wm/midnight-wm`. Not built or installed. …
