Description

Wayland is a complete window system in itself, but even so, if we're migrating away from X, it makes sense to have a good backwards compatibility story. With a few changes, the Xorg server can be modified to use wayland input devices for input and forward either the root window or individual top-level windows as wayland surfaces. The server still runs the same 2D driver with the same acceleration code as it does when it runs natively. The main difference is that wayland handles presentation of the windows instead of KMS.

In the other systems

The newest version among them is 24.1.14, as upstream numbers it.

4d717427ab Lucas Holt x11-servers/xwayland: add CPE identifier so mport audit can see it
mport audit matches installed packages against sec.midnightbsd.org by CPE (api/cpe/partial-match). The package was shipping an empty cpe field, so audit could not report Xwayland vulnerabilities at any version. NVD tracks Xwayland as cpe:2.3:a:x.org:xwayland, with 16 CVEs recorded including CVE-2023-6816, CVE-2024-0229 and CVE-2024-0409. The package now carries cpe:2.3:a:x.org:xwayland:24.1.13:::::midnightbsd4:x64:1. Found by sweeping the x11 categories for ports without a CPE and checking each candidate identifier against the audit API. Of 833 such ports only six matched anything, and five of those were name collisions with unrelated software (x11/bitmap vs the wernsey/bitmap image library, x11/xcb vs the Rust xcb …
de6fd85a0d Lucas Holt x11-servers/xwayland: update to 24.1.13 (security) (#625)
Updates `x11-servers/xwayland` from 24.1.12 to 24.1.13 to address the X.Org security advisory of 2026-07-08. ## CVEs fixed - **CVE-2026-55999** — `glamor_font_get()` font atlas heap buffer overflow (per-glyph metrics can exceed maxbounds-derived slot). Fix adds a per-glyph bounds check in `glamor/glamor_font.c`. - **CVE-2026-56000** — GLX `contextTags` use-after-free in `CommonMakeCurrent()`. Fix frees the old tag before the realloc that could move the array (`glx/vndcmds.c`). Both fixes verified present in the 24.1.13 source. ## Changes - `PORTVERSION` 24.1.12 → 24.1.13 - Regenerated `distinfo` ## Notes - Existing MidnightBSD patch still applies cleanly. - Built and staged (`bmake` + `fake`) on amd64; plist unchanged. …
