Description
retex is a TeX engine written in Rust 'from scratch'. It is a clean-room reimplementation of lualatex: it reads the same LaTeX packages and fonts from an installed TeX Live tree and produces the same PDF. On the documents we test, the pages are pixel-identical to lualatex's at 300 dpi. It is faster, runs as many passes as a document needs on its own, and reports errors in a form that says what is wrong and how to fix it.
Version history 2
Upstream's version as each commit to the port's Makefile set it, or as this site first saw it in the system's packages; the tree's own revisions are not versions here.
Install
Binary package:
pkg_add retex
From the ports tree:
cd /usr/ports/print/retex && make install
Dependency graph
Ports that need it on the left, what it needs to run on the right (to build, as it needs nothing to run); at most 8 of each. "Dependencies" below lists them all.
