Description

Fcron is a scheduler. It aims at replacing Vixie Cron, so it implements most of its functionalities. But contrary to Vixie Cron, fcron does not need your system to be up 7 days a week, 24 hours a day: it also works well with systems which are not running neither all the time nor regularly (contrary to anacrontab). To do so, fcron allows you to use the standard mode in which you tell it to execute one command at a given date and hour and to make it run a command according to its time of execution, which is normally the same as system uptime.

This is the stable release.

Install

As a binary package — by origin, or by package name:

pkg install sysutils/fcron
pkg install fcron

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/sysutils/fcron/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	fcron>0:sysutils/fcron

Packages

The version each package repository carries. “-” means the repository builds no package of it, “n/a” that there is no such repository.

Message after installing

To enable fcron, and disable the default system cron, add the following lines
to your /etc/rc.conf:

	fcron_enable="YES"
	cron_enable="NO"

and move any jobs in /etc/crontab to the root fcrontab(5) file. See:

/usr/local/share/examples/fcron

for a translation of the default FreeBSD /etc/crontab, and for sample PAM
configuration files.
