Description

Slurm is an open-source workload manager designed for *nix clusters of all sizes. It provides three key functions. First it allocates exclusive and/or non-exclusive access to resources (computer nodes) to users for some duration of time so they can perform work. Second, it provides a framework for starting, executing, and monitoring work (typically a parallel job) on a set of allocated nodes. Finally, it arbitrates contention for resources by managing a queue of pending work.

Install

Binary package:

From the ports tree:

Message after installing

Slurm has been installed.

Sample config:
  /usr/local/etc/slurm/slurm.conf.sample

Before starting services:
  - Copy and edit the sample to /usr/local/etc/slurm/slurm.conf
  - Create state dirs (already created in stage): /var/spool/slurmctld
  - Ensure munge is running and configured.

Services:
  - slurmctld (controller)
  - slurmd     (node daemon)

On FreeBSD, cgroups are typically not used. If slurmd/slurmctld complain
about cgroup initialization, set this in slurm.conf:

    ProctrackType=proctrack/linuxproc
    TaskPlugin=task/none
    CgroupPlugin=disabled

Then restart slurmctld/slurmd.

9f75692c63 Generic Rikka sysutils/slurm-wlm: Enable slurmrestd
The port currently explicitly disables slurmrestd with --disable-slurmrestd, with a comment stating that it does not build on FreeBSD. This restriction appears to be obsolete. With the current Slurm version, slurmrestd builds successfully on FreeBSD without requiring any additional portability patches. This change removes --disable-slurmrestd and adds the resulting slurmrestd executable and REST/OpenAPI plugins to the package plist. PR: 298466 Sponsored by: UNIS Labs (vvd, commit patch)
