Matrix clients -- mxc uri validation in js sdk
· CVE-2024-50336 · VuXML entry
matrix-js-sdk upstream reports: matrix-js-sdk before 34.11.0 is vulnerable to client-side path traversal via crafted MXC URIs. A malicious room member can trigger clients based on the matrix-js-sdk to issue arbitrary authenticated GET requests to the client's homeserver.
Affected versions
- cinny < 4.2.3
- element-web < 1.11.85
By system
0 still vulnerable, 4 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
