(lib)expat -- Insufficient entropy

· CVE-2026-41080 · VuXML entry

https://github.com/libexpat/libexpat/pull/1183 reports: libexpat before 2.8.0 uses insufficient entropy, and thus hash flooding can occur via a crafted XML document.

Affected versions

By system

1 still vulnerable, 1 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.

SystemPortVersionStateFixed
DragonFlytextproc/expat22.7.0 vulnerable since 2026-04-26
NetBSDtextproc/expat2.8.5 not listed
MidnightBSDtextproc/expat22.9.0 out of range, by version
