Mozilla -- persistent UUID that identifies browser

· CVE-2025-6425 · VuXML entry

[email protected] reports: An attacker who enumerated resources from the WebCompat extension could have obtained a persistent UUID that identified the browser, and persisted between containers and normal/private browsing mode, but not profiles. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 140, Firefox ESR < 115.25, Firefox ESR < 128.12, Thunderbird < 140, and Thunderbird < 128.12.

Affected versions

By system

2 still vulnerable, 4 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
