element-web -- several vulnerabilities
· CVE-2024-51749, CVE-2024-51750 · VuXML entry
Element team reports: Versions of Element Web and Desktop earlier than 1.11.85 do not check if thumbnails for attachments, stickers and images are coherent. It is possible to add thumbnails to events trigger a file download once clicked. A malicious homeserver can send invalid messages over federation which can prevent Element Web and Desktop from rendering single messages or the entire room containing them.
Affected versions
- element-web < 1.11.85
By system
0 still vulnerable, 2 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DragonFly | www/element-web | 1.11.96 | fixed | |
| NetBSD | chat/element-web | 1.12.27 | not listed | |
| FreeBSD | www/element-web | 1.12.32 | fixed | (627 days after) |
