ffmpeg -- Out-of-bounds write

· CVE-2026-8461 · VuXML entry

https://code.ffmpeg.org/FFmpeg/FFmpeg/pulls/23159 reports: An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in FFmpeg's libavcodec library, specifically in the MagicYUV decoder, allows denial-of-service and, in some cases, can be exploited for remote code execution. This vulnerability is associated with the file libavcodec/magicyuv.C. This issue affects FFmpeg before version 8.1.2.

Affected versions

By system

2 still vulnerable, 4 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
