fluidsynth -- Use after free when using DLS files
· CVE-2025-68617 · VuXML entry
The fluidsynth authors report: A race condition during unloading of a DLS file can trigger a heap-based use-after-free. A concurrently running thread may be pending to unload a DLS file, leading to use of freed memory, if the synthesizer is being concurrently destroyed, or samples of the (unloaded) DLS file are concurrently used to synthesize audio. Realistically, both scenarios will result in a denial of service. …
Affected versions
- fluidsynth < 2.5.2
By system
1 still vulnerable, 1 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FreeBSD | audio/fluidsynth | 2.6.1 | fixed | (192 days after) |
| OpenBSD | audio/fluidsynth | 2.5.6 | out of range, by version | |
| NetBSD | audio/fluidsynth | 2.6.0nb1 | not listed | |
| MidnightBSD | audio/fluidsynth | 2.5.3 | out of range, by version | |
| DragonFly | audio/fluidsynth | 2.4.4 | vulnerable since 2025-12-25 |
