age -- age vulnerable to malicious plugin names, recipients, or identities causing arbitrary binary execution
Filippo Valsorda reports: A plugin name containing a path separator may allow an attacker to execute an arbitrary binary. Such a plugin name can be provided to the age CLI through an attacker-controlled recipient or identity string, or to the plugin.NewIdentity, plugin.NewIdentityWithoutData, or plugin.NewRecipient APIs.
Affected versions
- age < 1.2.1
By system
0 still vulnerable, 2 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DragonFly | security/age | 1.2.1_1 | fixed | |
| OpenBSD | security/age | 1.3.2 | out of range, by version | |
| NetBSD | security/age | 1.3.1nb10 | not listed | |
