traefik -- Inverted TLS Verification Logic in Kubernetes NGINX Provider
· CVE-2025-66491 · VuXML entry
The traefik project reports: There is a potential vulnerability in Traefik NGINX provider managing the nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/proxy-ssl-verify annotation. The provider inverts the semantics of the nginx.ingress.kubernetes.io/proxy-ssl-verify annotation. Setting the annotation to "on" (intending to enable backend TLS certificate verification) actually disables verification, allowing man-in-the-middle attacks …
Affected versions
- traefik < 3.6.3
By system
1 still vulnerable, 1 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DragonFly | net/traefik | 3.4.1 | vulnerable since 2025-12-21 | |
| FreeBSD | net/traefik | 3.7.16 | fixed | (195 days after) |
