security/openvpn-auth-ldap -- Fix buffer overflow in challenge/response
· CVE-2024-28820 · VuXML entry
Graham Northup reports: A buffer overflow in extract_openvpn_cr allows attackers with a valid LDAP username and who can control the challenge/response password field to pass a string with more than 14 colons into this field and cause a buffer overflow.
Affected versions
- openvpn-auth-ldap < 2.0.4_3
By system
0 still vulnerable, 1 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FreeBSD | security/openvpn-auth-ldap | 2.0.4_3 | fixed | |
| OpenBSD | net/openvpn-auth-ldap | 2.0.4p6 | out of range, by version |
