podman -- files outside build context may be included via malicious Git repo or tar archive
· CVE-2026-44517 · VuXML entry
The Podman developers report: Building a Dockerfile using an ADD or COPY instruction accessing a malicious Git repository or tar archive could cause files outside the build context directory to be included in the build context or copied into the build.
Affected versions
- podman < 5.8.3
By system
0 still vulnerable, 1 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
| System | Port | Version | State | Fixed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FreeBSD | sysutils/podman | 5.8.9_2 | fixed | (67 days after) |
| NetBSD | sysutils/podman | 5.0.3nb23 | not listed |
