Description

The Immich machine-learning service provides smart search (CLIP), duplicate detection, facial recognition and OCR (text search in images) for an Immich server. It is a FastAPI application that executes ONNX models with onnxruntime on the CPU. Models are downloaded automatically on first use into the cache directory.

The service listens on port 3003 by default and is consumed by www/immich; point the Immich server at it via its machine-learning URL setting.

Install

Binary package:

pkg install immich-ml

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/www/immich-ml/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

Message after installing

The machine learning service listens on 127.0.0.1:3003 by default.
Point the Immich server at it in the admin web interface under
Administration > Settings > Machine Learning.

What to expect:
 * Models are downloaded on first use into /var/db/immich-ml.  Plan for
   about 1 GB with the default models for smart search, faces and OCR.
 * Inference runs on the CPU.  There is no GPU acceleration on FreeBSD,
   onnxruntime does not support it here.
 * Each worker holds its models in memory, roughly 200 MB for the
   smallest set.  Tune it in /usr/local/etc/immich-ml.env, for instance
   MACHINE_LEARNING_WORKERS or MACHINE_LEARNING_MODEL_TTL.
