Description

Brotli is a generic-purpose lossless compression algorithm that compresses data using a combination of a modern variant of the LZ77 algorithm, Huffman coding and 2nd order context modeling, with a compression ratio comparable to the best currently available general-purpose compression methods. It is similar in speed with deflate but offers more dense compression.

The specification of the Brotli Compressed Data Format is defined in RFC 7932.

## Summary Update archivers/brotli from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1. This fixes CVE-2026-111497, an out-of-bounds write in the Brotli decoder that permits remote code execution. Google released it on 2026-10-21. Node.js lists the same CVE in its [October 21 security release](https://nodejs.org/en/blog/vulnerability/october-2026-security-releases). 1.2.1 contains only two commits on top of 1.2.0: the fix (google/brotli 0ed4268a, "Detect and report invalid stream earlier") and the release preparation. The fix adds a new decoder error code, `BROTLI_DECODER_ERROR_FORMAT_BLOCK_SWITCH`. www/node24 at 24.22.1 uses that constant and builds with `--shared-brotli`, so it needs this update to compile (separate PR). ## Changes - `Makefile`: - DISTVERSION is now 1.2.1. …
