Description

The DBI interface allows perl programs to use DBD (Database Definition) drivers with a common set of routines. A program can then (theoretically) change from using mSQL to Oracle (for example) without changing the entire program around.

This DBI interface is not yet fully specified. The current development work is focused on writing drivers, such as DBD::Oracle, which also implement emulations of old perl4 database interfaces, e.g., oraperl. This strategy enables the DBI and drivers to serve a useful purpose whilst allowing the real interface to evolve with experience behind the emulation interface.

Update p5-DBI from 1.654 to 1.656. Security fixes: - CVE-2026-111879 (GHSA-8cx8-9vj9-9x7j, CWE-667): a failed DBD::DBM `open_data` did not release the table's lock, so a later open of the table hung. `dbm_mldbm` and `dbm_type` come from the DSN or connect attributes. - CVE-2026-108518: dbi_profile crash. Upstream changes: https://metacpan.org/release/HMBRAND/DBI-1.656/changes. The 1.655 release in between has only C89 and invalid-handle fixes. The license is unchanged (perl_5). Testing: - `bmake makesum`; SHA256 matches HMBRAND's CPAN CHECKSUMS. - `bmake patch build fake package`; the existing `patch-Makefile.PL` applies, and fake-qa reports no plist problems. - `bmake test`: Files=216, Tests=9932, Result: PASS. - `portlint -AC`: 0 fatal. Update DBI 1.647 → 1.654. Fixes CVE-2026-88815 (GHSA-c8vq-w3wr-6979): `sql_type_cast_svpv` read an invalid string pointer for IV/NV values when casting to `SQL_NUMERIC`, causing a segfault. 1.654 also fixes CVE-2026-88816, and 1.648–1.653 fix a number of other CVEs (see ChangeLog). License unchanged (Artistic 1.0 / GPL dual). `files/patch-Makefile.PL` still applies.
