Description

This library validates that address are of the form [email protected]. This is the sort of validation you would want for a login form on a website.

Key features:

  • Good for validating email addresses used for logins/identity.
  • Friendly error messages when validation fails (appropriate to show to end users).
  • (optionally) Checks deliverability: Does the domain name resolve?
  • Supports internationalized domain names and (optionally) internationalized local parts.
  • Normalizes email addresses (super important for internationalized addresses!)

82c240c54d Lucas Holt mail/py-email-validator: update to 2.3.0 (#711)
Update `mail/py-email-validator` from 2.1.0 to 2.3.0, and correct the license. ## LICENSE correction — CC0-1.0 → unlicense The port declared `LICENSE= CC0-1.0`, but 2.3.0's `setup.cfg` says `license = Unlicense`, `PKG-INFO` says `License: Unlicense` / `Classifier: License :: OSI Approved :: The Unlicense`, and the `LICENSE` file is verbatim Unlicense text ("This is free and unencumbered software released into the public domain") — not CC0. mports has a valid `unlicense` identifier (`Mk/components/licenses.db.mk:392`). `bmake check-license` passes. FreeBSD also carries `CC0-1.0`, which suggests the error is long-standing rather than introduced at 2.3.0 — but that's inference: the 2.1.0 distfile is no longer in `Distfiles/`, so it couldn't be verified against the old metadata. …
