Description

Caddy is a powerful, enterprise-ready, open source web server with automatic HTTPS written in Go.

This command line tool and associated Go package makes it easy to make custom builds of the Caddy Web Server.

There is an rc(8) script in /usr/ports/www/xcaddy/files/caddy that you can put in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ if you want. The caddy-custom port (/usr/ports/www/caddy-custom) can build a custom caddy for you using xcaddy.

Install

Binary package:

pkg install xcaddy

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/www/xcaddy/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	xcaddy>0:www/xcaddy

Packages

The version each package repository carries. “-” means the repository builds no package of it, “n/a” that there is no such repository.

Message after installing

xcaddy is a tool to build custom Caddy web servers with plugins.

SECURITY NOTICE:
When building and running Caddy servers created with xcaddy, it is strongly
recommended to run the resulting Caddy binary as an unprivileged user, such as
www:www, rather than as root.

For secure deployment of Caddy servers built with xcaddy:

- Use security/portacl-rc to enable privileged port binding:

  # pkg install security/portacl-rc
  # sysrc portacl_users+=www
  # sysrc portacl_user_www_tcp="http https"
  # sysrc portacl_user_www_udp="https"
  # service portacl enable
  # service portacl start

- Run your custom Caddy binary as www:www instead of root

See https://caddyserver.com/docs/ for Caddy configuration documentation.
See https://github.com/caddyserver/xcaddy for xcaddy usage instructions.
