Description

MySQL is a very fast, multi-threaded, multi-user and robust SQL (Structured Query Language) database server. MySQL Server is intended for mission-critical, heavy-load production systems as well as for embedding into mass-deployed software

Install

Binary package:

pkg install mysql97-client

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/databases/mysql97-client/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	mysql97-client>0:databases/mysql97-client

The maintainer load and port lifecycle policy only excludes a port from the outdated ratio when the reason is documented in the port itself: https://wiki.freebsd.org/Ports/MaintainerLoadAndPortLifecyclePolicy This is a slave port of databases/mysql97-server, but repology counts it as a package of its own. At the time of writing it lists 26.7.0 as the newest MySQL and reports this port as outdated, although it carries 9.7.2, the latest release of the series it tracks. Refer to the note in the master port instead of repeating it here. No functional change, comment only. Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH

This release contains the security fixes of the Oracle Critical Patch Update of July 2026. 43 of the 54 MySQL issues apply to the 9.7 series and to the MySQL Router built from this port. 273edb702d Jochen Neumeister databases/mysql{84,97}: Install man pages, clean up dependencies
Re-enable installation of the man pages shipped in the source tarball and register them in pkg-plist, split between the client and server packages. Same approach as databases/mysql80-client in PR 279234. Rework the dependencies based on actual linkage: libfido2 is only used by the client, curl, icu and liblz4 only by the server. Drop libhidapi entirely, it is a transitive dependency of libfido2. While here, fix the CONFLICTS_INSTALL pattern of mysql84-client not matching mysql80-client and update the mysql84 pkg-message.
