Description

MySQL is a very fast, multi-threaded, multi-user and robust SQL (Structured Query Language) database server. The new features in MySQL 8.0. In addition to Data Dictionnary and CTEs are: Move to utf8(mb4) as MySQL's default character set Language specific case insensitive collation for 21 languages (utf8) Invisible index Descending indexes Improve usability of UUID and IPV6 manipulations SQL roles - SET PERSIST for global variable values Performance Schema, instrumenting data locks Performance Schema, instrumenting error messages Improved cost model with histograms

Message after installing

There is no initial password for first time use of MySQL.
Keep in mind to reset it to a secure password.

MySQL80 has a default /usr/local/etc/mysql/my.cnf,
remember to replace it with your own
or set `mysql_optfile="$YOUR_CNF_FILE` in rc.conf.

MySQL Router is part of this package. It is disabled by default. To use it:

	cp /usr/local/etc/mysqlrouter/mysqlrouter.conf.sample \
		/usr/local/etc/mysqlrouter/mysqlrouter.conf
	sysrc mysqlrouter_enable=YES
	service mysqlrouter start

The router runs as the user "mysqlrouter" and logs to
/var/log/mysqlrouter/mysqlrouter.log. Do not add a "pid_file" or a "user"
entry to mysqlrouter.conf, the rc script takes care of both.

When creating a configuration for an InnoDB cluster, run
mysqlrouter --bootstrap --user=mysqlrouter, so that the generated
files below /var/db/mysqlrouter belong to that account.

If the router has to serve many connections, raise "openfiles" for its login
class in /etc/login.conf and point mysqlrouter_login_class in rc.conf at it,
upstream uses 10000.

As of MySQL 8.0.16, the MySQL server performs the upgrade tasks previously
handled by mysql_upgrade. Consequently, mysql_upgrade is unneeded and is
deprecated as of that version, and will be removed in a future MySQL version.
Because mysql_upgrade no longer performs upgrade tasks,
it exits with status 0 unconditionally.

This version adds an rc script, a configuration sample and the system user
"mysqlrouter" for MySQL Router. Nothing is enabled automatically.

If you already run MySQL Router yourself, note:

- An own /usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysqlrouter was renamed to mysqlrouter.pkgsave
by pkg and is not used anymore.
- An existing /var/log/mysqlrouter, /var/run/mysqlrouter or
/var/db/mysqlrouter is left untouched, ownership and permissions are not
changed. The rc script only creates the directories when they are
missing. If your router runs under a different account, set
  mysqlrouter_user and mysqlrouter_group in rc.conf.
- /usr/local/etc/logrotate.d/mysqlrouter works from now on, its
"create 600 mysqlrouter mysqlrouter" no longer points at a missing user.

===>   NOTICE:

This port is deprecated; you may wish to reconsider installing it:

EOLed upstream, switch to newer version.

It is scheduled to be removed on or after 2026-12-31.

443408a666 Alexander Leidinger databases/mysql*-server: make the rc script service jail aware
Set a default of net_basic for the service jail options, so mysqld can use IPv4/IPv6 when it is started in a service jail. The default can be overridden via rc.conf. PR: 279672 Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH
3c9444219a Jochen Neumeister databases/mysql{80,84,97}-server: Fix build on CPUs without SSE4.2
The crc32 code declares target("sse4.2"), but the _mm_crc32_* intrinsics require the crc32 feature. With -mno-crc32, as emitted by -march=native on a CPU without the instruction, sse4.2 no longer implies crc32 and the build fails. Declare crc32 instead, including the two flatten wrappers that inline those intrinsics. PR: 275404 Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH
3f2328fca5 Jochen Neumeister databases/mysql{80,84,97}-server: Add rc script and user for MySQL Router
All three server ports build and install MySQL Router, but it was never usable out of the box: there is no mysqlrouter user, no rc script, no configuration directory, and no log, runtime or data directory. The only trace of an integration was etc/logrotate.d/mysqlrouter, whose "create 600 mysqlrouter mysqlrouter" refers to an account that no port creates, so logrotate(8) skipped that entry with an error and exited non-zero. Upstream names that account itself: scripts/CMakeLists.txt sets MYSQLROUTER_USER to "mysqlrouter", the built-in help of mysqlrouter suggests --user=mysqlrouter, and the systemd unit shipped for Linux runs the service under it. Add the user and group, an rc script, and a configuration sample in etc/mysqlrouter. mysqlrouter does not detach itself, so it runs under …
