Description

NumPy is the fundamental package for scientific computing with Python. It contains among other things:

  • a powerful N-dimensional array object
  • sophisticated (broadcasting) functions
  • tools for integrating C/C++ and Fortran code
  • useful linear algebra, Fourier transform, and random number capabilities

Besides its obvious scientific uses, NumPy can also be used as an efficient multi-dimensional container of generic data. Arbitrary data-types can be defined. This allows NumPy to seamlessly and speedily integrate with a wide variety of databases.

20c0595129 Lucas Holt math/py-numpy: update to 2.4.6
mports has carried math/py-numpy1 at 1.26.4 for a while, so the 1.x line is already provided; math/py-numpy itself was simply never moved to 2.x. This blocks consumers that require the new ABI, e.g. math/py-ml-dtypes: py312-ml-dtypes-0.5.1_2 depends on package: py312-numpy>=2.0,1<3,1 - not found None of the 56 ports depending on math/py-numpy pin an upper bound below 2, so nothing needed relaxing. numpy 2 removed numpy.distutils, so all twelve local patches and site.cfg are gone along with the distutils-era configure plumbing; the build is meson via PEP 517. FreeBSD carries no patches at this version either. The BLAS choice keeps ATLAS, NETLIB and OPENBLAS: mports' blaslapack extension knows atlas, gotoblas, netlib and openblas only, so FreeBSD's BLIS and …
9bf4dffc92 Lucas Holt math/py-numpy: alias cython to the flavored binary
lang/cython uses concurrent, so each flavor installs only bin/cython-3.XX and the bare bin/cython exists only for PYTHON_DEFAULT. meson looks up plain cython and fails with "Unknown compiler(s): [['cython'], ['cython3']]" on every non-default flavor.
