Description

The python-socks package provides a core proxy client functionality for Python. Supports SOCKS4(a), SOCKS5, HTTP (tunneling) proxy and provides sync and async (asyncio, trio, curio) APIs. You probably don't need to use python-socks directly. It is used internally by aiohttp-socks and httpx-socks packages.

Install

As a binary package — by origin, or by package name:

pkg install net/py-python-socks
pkg install py312-python-socks

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/net/py-python-socks/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	py312-python-socks>0:net/py-python-socks

Packages

The version each package repository carries. “-” means the repository builds no package of it, “n/a” that there is no such repository.

Teach modern pyproject.toml some manners around our vintage setuptools. Upstream now requires setuptools >= 77 and uses the SPDX license string syntax. FreeBSD still ships setuptools 63.1 here, so patch the build requirements and use the older license table form to keep everyone on speaking terms.
