Erlang/OTP -- httpc leaks authentication headers on cross-host redirect

· CVE-2026-48856 · VuXML entry

https://github.com/erlang/otp/security/advisories/GHSA-m75x-4vwg-ggjh reports: The HTTP client (httpc) in inets now removes Authorization, Proxy-Authorization, Cookie, Referer, and Origin headers when following a redirect to a different host or port, following the requirements of RFC 9110 section 15.4. Previously these headers were forwarded verbatim, potentially leaking credentials to unintended targets.

Affected versions

By system

2 still vulnerable, 3 fixed. Where VuXML applies (FreeBSD, DragonFly, FreeBSD's derivatives) a port is vulnerable while its version is in a range; pkgsrc says itself whether it lists a CVE of this advisory; OpenBSD and MidnightBSD keep no list this site reads, so their row is only an estimate: FreeBSD's ranges applied to upstream's version.
