Description

NGINX is a high performance edge web server with the lowest memory footprint and the key features to build modern and efficient web infrastructure.

NGINX functionality includes HTTP server, HTTP and mail reverse proxy, caching, load balancing, compression, request throttling, connection multiplexing and reuse, SSL offload and HTTP media streaming.

Install

As a binary package — by origin, or by package name:

pkg install www/nginx-full
pkg install nginx-full

From the ports tree:

cd /usr/ports/www/nginx-full/ && make install clean

To depend on this port in another port's Makefile:

RUN_DEPENDS=	nginx-full>0:www/nginx-full

Packages

The version each package repository carries. “-” means the repository builds no package of it, “n/a” that there is no such repository.

Message after installing

Recent version of the NGINX introduces dynamic modules support. In
FreeBSD ports tree this feature was enabled by default with the DSO
knob. Several vendor's and third-party modules have been converted
to dynamic modules. Unset the DSO knob builds an NGINX without
dynamic modules support.

To load a module at runtime, include the new `load_module'
directive in the main context, specifying the path to the shared
object file for the module, enclosed in quotation marks. When you
reload the configuration or restart NGINX, the module is loaded in.
It is possible to specify a path relative to the source directory,
or a full path, please see
https://www.nginx.com/blog/dynamic-modules-nginx-1-9-11/ and
http://nginx.org/en/docs/ngx_core_module.html#load_module for
details.

Default path for the NGINX dynamic modules is

/usr/local/libexec/nginx.

bd9c59e452 Jochen Neumeister www/{nginx,nginx-devel,freenginx}: Drop the pcre1 dependency
Nothing calls a pcre1 symbol; modsecurity3 itself is built with pcre2. The slave ports kept listing PCRE_ONE, an option that no longer exists. Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH

fb00da4e07 Jochen Neumeister www/nginx-full: Add maintainer note per new ports policy
The maintainer load and port lifecycle policy only excludes a port from the outdated ratio when the reason is documented in the port itself: https://wiki.freebsd.org/Ports/MaintainerLoadAndPortLifecyclePolicy This is a slave port of www/nginx and follows the nginx stable branch, while mainline is packaged as www/nginx-devel. repology merges the nginx ports into a single project and measures the flavored slave ports against mainline: at the time of writing it reports 1.30.4 here as outdated against 1.31.4, while the unflavored www/nginx carrying the very same 1.30.4 is not reported at all. No functional change, comment only. Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH
6389027ba5 Jochen Neumeister www/{nginx,nginx-devel,freenginx}: 3rd-party modules management
- Add new NJS_QJS option to build the NJS module with the QuickJS engine (lang/quickjs), which upstream recommends since njs 1.0.0 - Warn users with NJS enabled that the built-in njs engine is EOL - Keep builds deterministic with NJS_QJS disabled (NJS_QUICKJS=NO) - nginx-devel: remove leftover NJS_QJS bits pointing to deleted patches; stop the QuickJS include path from clobbering the base cc-opt flags - nginx-full: enable NJS_QJS by default Sponsored by: Netzkommune GmbH
ce30f7c3f9 Jochen Neumeister www/{nginx,nginx-devel,freenginx}: 3rd-party modules management
Move the bundled fdintino nginx-upload-module to release 2.3.0 and work around its PCRE2 incompatibility. Since the removal of the PCRE1 option nginx is built against PCRE2 only. The module's regex filter for upload_pass_form_field still tests the ngx_regex_exec() return code for "rc == 0", which is only true under PCRE1; PCRE2 returns the number of captures (>= 0) on a match, so matching form fields were silently dropped and upload_pass_form_field was unusable on any dynamic (DSO) build. Relax the test to "rc >= 0" (workaround from upstream pull request 152). freenginx: additionally adapt the module to the removal of r->start_sec in freenginx >= 1.29 (nginx_version >= 1029000), which is otherwise a build failure.
